"Dave's Story"
Some past history on my life. I grew up in a very poor home, no God and very little money. The one thing I hated as a child was being poor, and I made a promise to myself that I would never live the same way I was growing up. I graduated high school with an elementary level education and moved on to Phoenix. One of the amazing things God does is keep His hand upon our lives even without our acknowledgement. It just so happened that my love of cars was also my gift, only I wouldn’t know it until my thirties. I believe God was showing me grace way before I even acknowledged His existence. That would take place in the late eighties. I believed then that I had created my own path and was beginning to be my own man. God helped me see it for what it was; He was in control, not me. At some point in the nineties, I allowed my wife to start tithing, giving God what was already His; only I still controlled how much He got. Did I mention that my wife ran the finances due to my fear and unwillingness to lead? That too would change in 2002. After studying hard and being involved in several groups, I found God’s true plan and guidance. It was my job to wear the burden of our finances, not my wife’s, so I began running things as God had commanded. I still remember the first time I was obedient with my finances. It was for a church car wash. I wrote a check for $100 and didn’t even get my car washed. When I returned home, I found a check in the mail for $300 from my insurance company for a supposed policy overpayment. I was delighted, but didn’t put two and two together until the next few times when things like that would happen. Today, I can honestly say that God blesses me with money. The more obedient I’ve become, the more blessings I receive; if I give $100, He gives $1,000. It just seems to work that way. Today, I don’t let money control me. I just give back to God what is already His. Since being obedient with my finances God has opened so many other doors in my life. Archived on 07/05/2007.
