Pastor Rich was born in Blythe, CA, and grew up in Phoenix, AZ. When he was 10 years old he asked his father to take him forward to an altar call following a sermon about the agony of hell, it was at this time that he put his trust in Christ for salvation. He developed a relationship with Christ through youth group, and committed to a future of ministry while on a youth mission trip to an Indian Reservation. While attending Bible college, he went on a mission trip to Russia and developed a passion for cross-cultural ministry. After college he operated his own plumbing company and later taught high school, all the while continuing to share the love of Christ on numerous mission trips and actively serving the local body.
While raising support for mission’s trip, a mutual friend introduced him to his wife, Carly, who
also had a heart for missions. They married in 2004, and have grown in their love for Christ, each other, and the body as they serve together at PSCC and abroad. In 2009 the Cantrells were preparing to move to Honduras to minister full time, when God changed their course and called Rich to be the pastor of PSCC. No one could deny the confirmation of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of the Cantrells as well as the people of PSCC. Previously, while preparing to minister in
Honduras, Pastor Rich and Carly had made a difficult decision forego having children of their own, but after God called them to stay in Phoenix He blessed them with a daughter, Evelyn Rose.
Throughout this adventure and over years of God’s proven faithfulness and love, two Scriptures continue to comfort and challenge Pastor Rich. His all-time favorite, Romans 5:8 provides him with comforting reminder of God’s love. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” He also loves the life-long challenge of Mark 8:34-35 “And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.”
Pastor Rich counts it a privilege to pastor the people of Paradise Springs. His desire is that each person of PSCC would fall more deeply in love with Jesus Christ. He is confident this naturally occurs as we learn more about who Christ is and what He’s done for us. We bring glory and honor to Christ by getting to know and love Him. This explains our church purpose statement: To know, love & honor Jesus Christ.
Penny McGinn grew up in a small town, Bluffton, OH, and was led to Christ at age 16 at a Campus Life Retreat. She moved to Phoenix in 1977, and began attending Paradise Springs in 1999. She was invited to work in the church office in 2003, she says serving the Lord in the body of Christ has helped her to draw closer to Him, while building lasting relationships within the body. She finds working as the church secretary a privilege and most rewarding.
Ned Wright served as a United States Marine stationed at Camp Lejuene, NC as a mechanized infantryman, in the “Shock Troop”. He is currently a commercial and custom home contractor. He has been married to his wife, Annemarie, for 25 years, and has three daughters: Michele, Breanna, and Kaylee.
One of Ned’s favorite Scriptures is John 10:10, in which Jesus explains the enemy's plan is for our life and God's plan for our life, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” He also loves the story Jesus told about the prodigal son. He feels as though he has lived that life, and by God's mercy and loving grace, he is home!
He desires PSCC to be a loving Christian environment where people can be real about their shortcomings and struggles - a place where people do not feel judged, but rather loved and encouraged toward a deeper love for God.
